Upcoming items of note - On Monday, August 4 at 7:00 PM the Deacons will meet. At the close of the Morning Service on Sunday, August 10, we will have a short Special Called Business Meeting to elect Messengers for the Sandy Creek Association Annual Meeting.
August is time to collect School Supplies for Operation Christmas Child. Suggestions are Pencils and sharpener, Pencil case, Eraser, Pens, Crayon, Markers, Notebooks, Index cards, Calculator, Scissors, Ruler, Glue stick, Small Adhesive tape.

Sunday morning at 10:30 AM, Pastor Joe will deliver a message titled “What Does A Wedding Song Have To Do With Me?” based on Psalm 45. In the evening at 6:00 PM he will cover the book of Deuteronomy as we go “Book by Book, The Bible One Book at a Time”.
Since we are all tired from the activities so far this summer there are no exciting announcements this week. Instead we want to remind you that we have Bible study each Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM. Some of the men meet at Jones House in Roodhouse, IL at 7:00 AM each week and invite all men to join them for coffee/breakfast and fellowship. Ladies Night Out will resume in September.
The main thing we are working on right now is collecting items for Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Each month we focus on different items that we need donated. Check out the graph Andrea has made to help us know which items need donated.
This month we are suggesting you donate toys for the boxes.
In the Fellowship Hall you will find a table with Pastor Joe’s “Summer Reading Suggestions”. There are books for all ages. Help yourself and either return the book when you are finished or keep it for future reference.

We have had a fun and educational time at Vacation Bible School this week. Our theme was the Whole Armor of God.
This Sunday evening at 6:00 PM you are invited to enjoy some of the kids showing off their art projects and things they learned this week. There will also be a slide show to give you an idea of how busy everyone has been. Please come!
Sunday morning at 10:30 AM Pastor Joe will continue his Summer in the Psalms series with a message from Psalm 44 titled “How Do Righteous Suffer?” In the evening he will speak on Deuteronomy as he goes ‘Book by Book, The Bible One Book at a Time”.
For the month of July we are collecting Toys for Operation Christmas Child. Some ideas are Balls, Frisbee, Building blocks, Finger puppet, Slinkey, Yo-Yo, Magnets, Kaleidoscope, Interactive toys and Other small toys and figures.

Come join us for a free BBQ Pork meal at the Manchester Park! We have several planning to show off their cooking skills and some will be doing various meats in addition to pork. Pickle Ball, Corn Hole and other games and activities will be available.
Sunday Morning June 29 Pastor Joe will continue “Summer in the Psalms” with a message titled “Why Aren’t We Ever Satisfied?” based on Psalm 42. Sunday Evening at 6:00 PM we invite you to join us as we have an opportunity to share a favorite Story or Song about what God has done for us! Pastor Joe will also continue taking us through the Bible one book at a time. This week that book is Leviticus.
Our Quarterly Business Meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 2 starting with a potluck meal at 6:30 PM. Everyone is invited to the potluck!
“The Armor of God” is our Vacation Bible School theme this year! Send your kids to learn all about it starting Monday, July 7 through Friday July 11. We will start at 9 AM and dismiss at 11:20 AM. We invite all children from ages 5 - 12. Older kids will have lessons aimed for their age group so don’t think it is just for little kids!
Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes News We have been notified that our shoeboxes last year went to the country of Benin in West Africa. We collect donated items all year round so we can pack lots of boxes. So far this year we have collected Clothing and Accessories, Personal Care items, Girls Clothing, Boys Clothing and for the month of July we are collecting Toys for the Operation Christmas Child . If you would like to donate items that will fit in a shoebox of cash to purchase items, you can drop items off at the church any time. We pack the boxes in November. Here are some of the boxes we packed previously!

Today’s message, titled “How Can I be Faithful when Life Isn’t Simple?” is based on Psalm 40. Come join us at 10:30 AM. We will have no activities at the church this Sunday evening so you may spend more time with your family.
Kids Sports Day Camp starts Monday, June 16 and goes through Friday, June 20. All kids ages 6 – 12 are invited to join us each day from 9AM – Noon. Prep work is underway!
Putting together pickle ball nets, gathering basketballs, socker balls, planning snacks and Wacky Sports and a short Bible lesson. Come join us at the Manchester, IL Community Park!
Come compete with some of the best BBQers around! Manchester Baptist Church will provide one pork shoulder roast per contestant. Other meat welcome if you provide it. Sides and desserts will be provided. Bring your own secret ingredients and equipment to the Manchester IL Community Park on Saturday, June 28 and win bragging rights. Cooking, Fun and Games start around 1:30 PM, Judging will be at 4:00 PM and we will sample all this goodness starting about 5:00 PM. Everything is FREE and you are invited!

It is officially summer so our sermon theme is Summer in the Psalms! We will hear a message from the Book of Psalms each Sunday morning at 10:30 AM. This week’s message is titled “How Should I Pray in Sickness and Suffering?” The sermon text is Psalm 39.
Each Sunday evening Pastor Joe is sharing a unique series, presenting one book of the Bible each week at 6:00 PM. Since the messages are in chronological order in this series, he will present Job this week.
In case you aren’t aware, we normally post a video of each Sunday morning’s message on YouTube (@MBC 404) and share it to our Facebook page (Manchester Baptist Church, Manchester, IL). Sunday evening’s messages are posted as a podcast on Spotify and we will be sharing them to Facebook also. They usually are posted Monday mornings.
We are counting down the days to the Kids Sports Day Camp. Call the church at 217-587-2761 if you still need to register your child!
All BBQ chefs are welcome to strut their stuff! The church will provide each contestant with a pork shoulder roast and you provide your own equipment and any special ingredients. Contact the church if you want to compete so we get enough meat. Everyone is invited to join in fun and games during the afternoon and enjoy a FREE BBQ meal starting at 5:00 PM.

Saturday, May 17 at 9:00 AM we will have Work Day at the church to do a little extra cleaning and sprucing up. There will be chores for everyone.
Sunday, May 18 at 5:00 PM is another VBS planning meeting. If you are able to help this year it would be great if you could attend this meeting. Everyone’s input is useful. VBS is scheduled to be July 7th through 11th starting at 9:00 am each day and ending around 11:15 AM.

You will be blessed by joyful congregational singing and a message based on Spurgeon’s: “What Mary Magdalene Teaches Us at Easter Sunrise”. You may then enjoy breakfast in the Fellowship Hall with us. We will have Easter Sunday Worship Service at the usual time of 10:30 AM.
